Application Deadline: January 20, 2018
Application materials are below.
Dear applicants and guardians,
The Youth Board of CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center is sponsoring a scholarship program for a VCSC high school student to participate in CANDLES’ summer trip to Auschwitz. The 2018 trip will take place June 23 – July 1, 2018. The program enables Vigo County students to witness the tragedy of the Holocaust and helps them develop a sense of purpose in promoting respect and responsibility in our community. Visiting Auschwitz with a survivor is an unforgettable journey that very few people will have the chance to experience. Now a VCSC student will be one of those few.
High school students in the Vigo County School Corporation are eligible to apply. If the applicant will be under age 18 during any portion of the trip, he/she must be accompanied by a chaperone. The chaperone could be an adult relative, friend, or teacher, so long as that person is authorized to be the chaperone by the student’s legal guardian.
All applicants must complete and submit an application by January 20th. Finalists will be contacted for an interview the first half of February. The selected student will be required to prepare for the trip through readings and research and follow up at the local schools with presentations about their experience.
Please read the Scholarship Application Letter below for expectations and the trip itinerary.
All applications are due by January 20, 2018.
Please complete a paper copy of the application or fill out the online application. For paper applications, submit via email to Amy Guess at programs@CandlesHolocaustMuseum.org or mail to:
